Sandra Goldberg – Managing Director

Sandra is responsible for new client acquisition and managing client engagements. She brings more than 20 years experience in the technology sector to MergerTech through a progressive career in diverse start-up, corporate and entrepreneurial environments.

Prior to her work at MergerTech, she was involved with various IT sector clients at Martin Wolf Securities and its parent, Martin Wolf Associates, including projects for Altiris (now Symantec), ASAP Software, CDW Corporation and LANDesk/Avocent (now Emerson). Sandra was CEO and President of kärna LLC, a start-up technology company where she led the company from its early stages, including raising the initial capital. She was also Vice President, Corporate Development and Acquisitions for CompuCom Systems, Inc., a $2B systems integrator, where she successfully facilitated over $600 million in acquisitions during her tenure.

Prior to her work in M&A, Sandra spent eleven years with ComputerLand as Vice President, Sales and Franchise Operations of the franchisor, ComputerLand Corporation, where she managed its $1 billion franchise business. Sandra played key roles in the acquisition of ComputerLand’s Franchise and Distribution division by Merisel, Inc. and subsequent acquisition by SYNNEX Corporation. Sandra received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and was recognized as Outstanding Female Graduate.

Alex Howard- Managing Director

Alex is responsible for managing client engagements. Alex has a background in mergers and acquisitions, capital raises, corporate development, and asset management.   Alex spent five years as an investment banker for Banc of America Securities, RBC Capital Markets, and Wells Fargo Securities, where he completed numerous business combinations and equity and debt raises in the technology and financial services sectors.  Alex then joined Exigen Group’s corporate development efforts, heading its strategic acquisitions practice. Exigen is a transformational business process outsourcer focused on the financial services, government, and media sectors. While at Exigen, Alex managed the target identification, negotiation and acquisition of business process outsourcers and application developers in the U.S., and Eastern Europe.  During his time at Exigen, Alex completed the acquisition of a 500-person application developer in Europe.  In addition to his role as Exigen’s in-house acquisitions lead, Alex participated in the structuring of several BPO “utilities” designed as equity partnerships between Exigen, its clients and venture funders.  Alex was instrumental in the financial planning and funding of Exigen’s EquaTrax SRP shared royalty platform partnership between Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.  Most recently, Alex worked for an alternative investment manager as AVP Research, where he was responsible for identifying, valuing, and structuring investments into illiquid equities and distressed debt.  Alex studied transitional economic policy at Cracow University of Economics, Poland, and holds a BA with honors in International Accounting.

David Shohet – Managing Director

David is responsible for managing client engagements and has 20 years of experience in financial management, business capitalization and technology company management. Prior to joining MergerTech, David was the head of finance and acting CFO at Rearden Commerce, an enterprise software company where he led private equity financing rounds and debt financing which raised over $175M in new capital, as well as managed the acquisition of two technology companies. He was director of finance at Menerva Technologies, Inc., a software development company, responsible for the successful effort to secure venture funding and the eventual sale of the business to I-many, Inc. (NASDAQ: IMNY). Thus he has managed the entire M&A process from both sides of the table, including the investor presentation, negotiations, due diligence, closing and post-closing activities. David was founder of an Internet start-up for which he negotiated venture funding and has also performed financial management roles in several firms outside of the technology sector.

David earned a bachelor degree in business administration from the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA with high honors from Harvard Business School.

Frank Jarolimek-Proner – Analyst

Frank is responsible for supporting the execution of M&A transactions, due diligence items, and performing company and industry analyses. Prior to joining MergerTech, Frank spent two years in São Paulo, Brazil as both an Analyst and Consultant for a top tier Asset Management Consultancy.  Before that, Frank was part of the start-up team at Hotgrinds.com, an advanced web analytics solution that provides opinion mining and sentiment analysis.

Frank studied Political Science at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (sciences-Po) in France and studied International Relations, Economics and Finance at the London School of Economics where he received a BSc with Honors. Frank speaks fluent French and Portuguese.

Jin Oh – Analyst

Jin is responsible for supporting the execution of M&A transactions, due diligence items, and performing company and industry analyses. His expertise lies in financial modeling and providing insight for company valuations. Prior to MergerTech, Jin worked at Northwestern Mutual where he helped enhance client portfolios through implementing insurance and investment based solutions.

Jin graduated from Boston University with a BS in Economics. As a part of BU’s varsity soccer team, he received the most outstanding player award in the American East Conference and helped qualify the team for the NCAA tournament. He was also a member of the Guam national team during their first ever FIFA sanctioned tournament victory in 2009. Jin is fluent in Korean.

Ash K. Sethi – Analyst

Ash is responsible for supporting the execution of M&A transactions, due diligence items, and performing company and industry analyses. Prior to joining MergerTech, Ash spent two years as a Research Assistant for The Brookings Institution and The Center for Strategic International Studies in Washington, DC.  Before that, Ash worked as a Legislative Advisor in the United States Senate, focused on Energy and Economic policy.  He also worked as a consultant to Rio Tinto Alcan in Singapore, where he helped plan the company’s strategic expansion into India, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Ash did his undergraduate studies in Political Science at Penn State University and has a Master’s degree in Public Finance from The University of Maryland. Ash speaks fluent Hindi and Spanish.

Edward Nepomuceno- Analyst

Edward Nepomuceno is responsible for supporting the execution of M&A transactions, due diligence items, and performing company and industry analyses. Edward was part of MergerTech’s Internship Program before joining the firm as an Analyst. Prior to MergerTech, Edward worked at Adirondack Growth Capital where he helped evaluate investment opportunities in the insurance, financial services, and business services industries.

Edward did his undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH where he earned his BA in Mathematics.
